Kolkata Knight Riders full squad IPL 2022: Kolkata Knight Riders managed to fill all the 25 positions in the squad by the end of day 2 of the Mega Auction 2022. It is fair to say that they weren’t outstanding at the auctions but did manage to make a strong core. To address the captaincy issues, they spent a whopping amount for the likes of Shreyas Iyer and Pat Cummins.
KKR broke their bank to avail the services of Shreyas Iyer at the IPL Auctions. KKR managed to pick him up at a huge sum of INR 12.25 crores. They paid INR 7.25 crores to get Pat Cummins back into the team and then invested more than 7 crores each for Nitish Rana and Shivam Mavi.
To address the middle-order woes, they bid heavily for Liam Livingstone but failed to get his services. However, they managed to make some bargain buys in Ajinkya Rahane, Alex Hales, Umesh Yadav, Mohammad Nabi, and Sam Billings. As far as the retentions as concerned, KKR already has got the services of Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Venkatesh Iyer, and Varun Chakravarthy.
As far as their first choice four overseas are concerned, KKR could go with the likes of Alex Hales, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and Pat Cummins. They might think of playing Sam Billings instead of Alex Hales. However, with the latter in great form, it would be better to start with him in the playing XI.
