IPL star franchise Chennai Super Kings on Friday announced on extending the team’s quarantine period till September 1.
The CSK team had already reached the UAE on August 21 and also completed their six days of mandatory quarantine. The squad was slated to start training this week at the ICC Academy instead, they chose to extend quarantine till Tuesday.
The franchise hasn’t clarified the reason behind that, neither did they issue any official statement regarding that. As per the protocols, the players will have to undergo COVID-19 test on day 1, 3 & 5 and if they test negative, only then they will be allowed to start training.
Other teams barring Chennai Super Kings have started their training under the bio-secure bubble from Thursday. Rajasthan Royals were the first franchise to start their training and already completed two successful sessions on Friday. Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians also had their first sessions on Friday while Delhi Capitals will begin training from Saturday.
Only Chennai Super Kings are yet to start their training but they were also the only team to have conducted the pre-season camp in India. Everyone excluding Harbhajan Singh, Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur were a part of the camp at Chepauk. Jadeja and Thakur later joined the team before flying to the UAE on August 21.
