Chennai Super Kings pacer Deepak Chahar finally joined the team’s training camp ahead of the IPL 2020 on Friday. CSK’s CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed that Chahar had cleared all the three rounds of the coronavirus tests before resuming his training.

Chennai Super Kings will face the defending champions Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener at Abu Dhabi on September 19.

Chahar has not only cleared all the COVID-19 tests, but the BCCI’s medical team also gave a green flag to the pacer for joining the camp.

“Deepak has all the necessary clearance from the CSK and BCCI side and will start training from today,” Viswanathan said.

CSK is also planning on roping England batsman Dawid Malan as the replacement of Suresh Raina who pulled out of the IPL 2020. Malan has been in a good touch as could be seen from his performance in the T20I series against Australia.

“This is news to me as well because our quota of foreign players is already full. So I don’t know how we can have another foreigner in the squad,” he clarified.

CSK had a turbulent start to their camp in the UAE as first the 13 members including players had tested positive for coronavirus. Later, all-rounder Suresh Raina and veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh pulled out of the IPL due to the personal reasons.

MS Dhoni and his also started their training very late as the entire team had to stay under the quarantine period in their hotel rooms. But now they have already started their full-fledged training with no injury scare ahead of the tournament opener on September 19.
