Delhi Capitals registered its first match of the IPL 2020 by Kings XI Punjab in an enthralling Super over decider on Sunday. Kagiso Rabada took two wickets in the super over and barred the Kings XI side to even play the complete six balls.

He removed KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran and hence, Kings XI could only score 2 runs in the super over. Rishabh Pant finished the game by hitting the ball towards deep square leg and pull the victory for the side.

Earlier, KL Rahul led side had won the toss and decided to bowl first. Mohammad Shami looked menacing as he spearheaded the pace attack and also finished with 3/15 in his spell. Delhi Capitals lost wickets at an early stage of the game as they struggled at 96/6 at the end of 16 overs. However, Marcus Stoinis came into bat and blasted 53 runs off 21 balls took the total score to 157 runs.

KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal opened the batting for Punjab for chasing the target of 158 runs. KL Rahul looked elegant but lost his wicket on 19 runs. Kings XI couldn’t build a partnership as the wicket continued to fall at an alarming rate.

R Ashwin inflicted a double blow on Punjab by removing Karun Nair and Nicholas Pooran in a single over. Unfortunately, he dislocated his shoulder while trying to save the ball and left the field.

Mayank Agarwal made sure to be on the field despite the wickets falling on the other end. He reached his half-century by smashing Mohit Sharma for a six on the long off.

Unfortunately, Agarwal couldn’t pull it for the Kings XI despite scoring 89 off 60 balls as the match went into the super over. The Capitals won the super over and also started off the season on a winning note.

Marcus Stoinis became the Man of the Match for hitting 53 runs off 21 balls and also took one wicket in the final over leading to the super over.

Delhi Capitals will now face Chennai Super Kings on September 25 in Dubai while Kings XI Punjab will meet Royal Challengers on September 24.
