Chennai Super Kings spinner Harbhajan Singh won’t be travelling to the UAE with the squad on Friday, August 21. for the 13th edition of IPL. The 40-year-old cricketer also missed CSK’s five-day pre-season training camp at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Apparently, Harbhajan said that his mother is not well and hence he can’t travel now. However, it’s also been learned that the off-spinner is expected to join the side in the next two weeks. Shardul Thakur joined the team on Wednesday, August 19 while Ravindra Jadeja is expected to arrive in the city on August 20.

Harbhajan hasn’t played any form of cricket since the finals of the IPL 2019. CSK lost to Mumbai Indians by one run. Harbhajan also went wicketless in that game. But he still remains to be a vital part of the side ever since he united back in 2018.

In the meantime, as per reports, CSK captain MS Dhoni appeared to be joyful with the pitches prepared by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) for CSK’s training sessions. Two pitches- red soil and clay- were put forth for the preparations. The training camp is set to terminate on Thursday before the team sets off for UAE.

The 2020 IPL is planned to commence on September 19 with the matches to be played at Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. The tournament will be a 53-day affair with the final to take place on November 10.
