After a thumping victory in their first game of IPL 2021, Delhi Capitals (DC) are now all set to go up against Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR). One name that played a pivotal role and shone in the match between DC and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was that of DC opener Prithvi Shaw.
Shaw smashed a scintillating 72 runs off 38 balls to crush the MS Dhoni-led team to secure the victory for DC. His starry performance earned him praises from an ecstatic Ricky Ponting, DC’s Head Coach.
Ahead of today’s game, Shaw talked about his experience of working with Ponting. He said he is enjoying working with him and also that they generally discuss tactics and strategies on batting.
“With Ricky, I generally speak to him about tactics and strategies as a batsman,” DC quoted Shaw as saying in a press release.
“He has played so much cricket and he has got the experience which he can share with us and he does especially with the youngsters. I am really enjoying working with him,” he added.
Contrary to his performance in DC’s first game of IPL 2021, Shaw was not that impressive in the previous season. He failed to deliver any noteworthy performance, as a result of which, he got sidelined. However, this time around, the 21-year old has done some fine-tunings to his form to deliver his best performance.
“I made some small changes in my batting before the IPL. I just wanted to minimize all the mistakes I was making, and I worked hard,” he further added.
“I practised for two weeks with Strength & Conditioning Coach Rajinikanth Sivagnanam sir and Pravin Amre sir before the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Then I just played my natural game with a few changes in the Vijay Hazare Trophy,” Prithvi Shaw concluded.
