Kolkata Knight Riders will begin their IPL 2021 campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday. Both sides finished last season with an equal number of points. However, only SRH qualified for the playoffs. Kolkata could not make it into the playoffs due to an inferior Net Run Rate.

KKR vs SRH: Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders never looked like winning the tournament last year. Dinesh Karthik handed over the captaincy to Eoin Morgan midway in the tournament. Sunil Narine and Andre Russell couldn’t live up to the bar they have set for themselves. Bowlers too didn’t deliver as expected. With a new full-time skipper in Eoin Morgan, Kolkata would hope of delivering better performances. Andre Russell too promised to exhibit match-winning performances. Given how Sunil Narine has played in the last couple of years, there might be a chance that he makes way for Shakib Al-Hasan. The Indian core should remain the same, comprising of Shubman Gill, Dinesh Karthik, Rahul Tripathi and Nitish Rana. A lot will depend on how the bowling unit turns up this year. The fans would expect Pat Cummins and Co. to deliver right from the start of the tournament.

KKR vs SRH: Sunrisers Hyderabad

SRH, on the other, looked solid as expected. All the department looks sorted. They have the most powerful opening pair in David Warner and Jonny Bairstow. Experienced campaigners in Kane Williamson and Manish Pandey would follow them. It is important that the lower-middle order too takes responsibility and doesn’t let the team suffer from a collapse. The comeback of Bhuvneshwar Kumar would be a big boost for them this year. He will be accompanied by the likes of T Natarajan, Siddarth Kaul to name a few.

Both teams would be raring to earn their first points in the tournament as one can expect a cracker of a contest on Sunday.
