Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star batsman AB de Villiers appeared for practice on Sunday and described the session as “really good”.
De Villiers said that he is happy to have his basics in place after conducting the first training session. The team began their three-day training camp at the ICC Cricket Academy on Sunday (Aug 29)
The matches in the IPL 2020 will take place across- Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Dubai starting from September 19. All the teams went under the six days mandated quarantine at their hotel rooms.
“It was very good, enjoyable to be out there, the wicket was a bit sticky so it was a great challenge, actually if I could have it my way, I would have wanted my first net session to go like this only after a long time,” De Villiers said in a video.
“I kept my basics in place, watched the ball carefully, I played some nice shots in the end and it was enjoyable,” he added.
The South African players joined their respective teams directly in the UAE the very next day all the teams arrived in their hotels. All the players including the staff members need to test negative thrice before going ahead with the season.
On Saturday, the BCCI confirmed that 13 personnel including 2 players had tested positive of COVID-19. CSK bowlers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Chahar were among the ones testing positive. That has led to the extension of the quarantine period of the CSK. And as per the sources, they may also skip their first match of the season, however, the schedule hasn’t been released.
