Sunrisers Hyderabad put up a brilliant show against the Kings XI Punjab, leading to victory by 69 runs on Thursday. Winning skipper David Warner was all praises for his bowlers that led to the victory in Dubai International Stadium.
SRH did have hiccups at one point of the match after Nicholas Pooran ransacked the bowlers for seven big sixes. Pooran hit the fastest fifty of the season of just 17 balls but he got no support from the other end and eventually KXIP got all out in 16.3 overs.
“I was a bit nervous while Nicholas was hitting it over the stands. I have always had high prospects of that kid. I was fortunate to play in Bangladesh with him” Warner said.
But Rashid Khan rose on the occasion by dismissing the dangerous looking Pooran and ensured the match remained in their favour. He then went on to dismiss Mandeep Singh and Mohammad Shami and rattled the KXIP batting lineup in his spell.
“He’s (Rashid) a world-class bowler, it’s great to have him. He always delivers in pressure situations. He loves that stuffs. What a player” the skipper praised Rashid.
Warner praised Jonny Bairstow for his knock of 97 runs that helped the side reach a total of 201 runs.
“We love batting with each other. We pride ourselves in running hard between wickets. At the moment, I am just rotating strike for him (Bairstow)” Warner added.
After the win, Sunrisers Hyderabad have now climbed to the third place in the latest standings, with Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals on top two spots.
