Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting arrived in the UAE ahead of the IPL 2020 on Thursday. The franchise welcomed him by posting on the Twitter:
As he landed in the country, Ponting will have to stay under the quarantine for the next six days as a mandatory protocol. The former Australian skipper also informed fans on Twitter by posting a tweet from his hotel with a caption: “My view for the next 6 days, hotel quarantine is officially underway,”
Everyone is actually waiting for Ponting to unite with the team especially the off-spinner Ravi Chandran Ashwin at the team camp.
Earlier, Ponting had hit the headlines by bringing the Mankading incident of the last year involving Ashwin and Jos Buttler. Ponting said that he would have a hard conversation with the off-spinner in case he does it again this season.
Ashwin also said how keen he is about meeting Ponting in person, and also said about revealing the details once he meets the head coach face-to-face.
In fact, Ashwin also came up with a new idea of “free ball” in case a batsman crosses the crease before the bowler delivers the ball. That would make the contest more even between the batsmen and the bowler.
