Indian speedster, Mohammed Siraj said that playing for India against Australia has been a real boost in his confidence. Siraj has been performing well for RCB in the ongoing IPL 2021 and the 27-year old believes that donning the Indian jersey is a big reason behind his brilliant performances in IPL.
Mohammad Siraj made his Test debut in the historic four-match Test series between India and Australia in December 2020. He played a key role in India’s series victory in the absence of the injured senior players and became the highest-wicket taker of the series. He also featured in the Test series against England in March this year.
“I backed my yorker at the death as it was coming out really well and I was able to execute it really well. I was single minded in executing the yorkers to Rishabh and Hetmyer and I thought if they hit a good shot, so be it. Obviously my confidence is high after playing Test cricket, My line and length has improved because of it, and sharing the dressing room with Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah helped me immensely.”
Siraj bowled the last over of the game against Delhi Capitals and defended 14 runs against the likes of Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer. RCB won the game by one run and with that reached the top of the table with 5 wins in six games.
Earlier, riding on AB de Villiers’s spectacular 75-run knock, RCB posted 171 runs in the first innings. He came out to bat when Devdutt Padikkal, Glenn Maxwell, and Virat Kohli all went back to the pavilion. He stitched a crucial partnership with Rajat Paditar in the middle overs, before unleashing himself in the last few overs. He hit as many as three sixes in the final over off Marcus Stoinis to take the team to a strong total. Delhi Capitals tried hard but fell short of one run in the end.
