IPL 2021 Match 13: Delhi Capitals jumped to the second spot after defeating the defending champions Mumbai Indians by 6 wickets on Tuesday. Rishabh Pant and his men played its first game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium for the first time this season.
The bowlers put an impeccable show spearheaded by Amit Mishra who took four wickets and rattled down MI’s destructive batting lineup. He is just six wickets away from being the highest wicket-taker in the history of the tournament.
MI were restricted on just 137/9 in 20 overs with the skipper Rohit Sharma top-scoring 44 runs off 30 balls. The side fell short of putting a big total after the middle order failed to withstand the bowling of Delhi Capitals comprising of Avesh Khan, Lalit Yadav and Rabada.
“After the start we got we should have batted better in the middle overs. It is happening time and again. We aren’t able to capitalize on our starts and we need to understand as a batting unit.” MI skipper Rohit Sharma said.
Avesh Khan took 2/15, while debutant Lalit Yadav banked on an economical spell of 1/17 in four overs. The bowlers made the chase easier for the batsmen with just 138 runs to chase down in 20 overs.
“But you have to give credit to the Delhi bowlers, they kept it tight and kept taking wickets. We knew dew would come in but we have seen that it’s not all that difficult to grip the ball in the last few games” MI skipper praised DC bowling.
Shikhar Dhawan becomes Orange cap holder
