Punjab Kings (PBKS) will take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 8th match of IPL 2021 on Friday. Both sides have had a contrasting start to their campaign. PBKS managed to win their first game by 4 runs against Rajasthan Royals in the last-ball thriller. On other hand, Dhoni and Co. are coming off with a 7-wicket defeat at the hands of Delhi Capitals in their first game. With both the teams all geared up for tomorrow’s face-off, here’s a look at the match preview of the PBKS versus CSK game-
Punjab Kings vs Chennai Super Kings: CSK form
Despite scoring a formidable 188-run total in the first innings, CSK lost the game with 8 balls to spare. CSK will be playing on the same Wankhede track. They would look to score 15-20 more runs as one could expect another high-scoring contest between two top sides.
Suresh Raina has made a fantastic return to the team, scoring a valuable half-century in the first game. His form should be a big boost for CSK going ahead in the tournament. The all-rounders in Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran also made useful contributions.
Their lack of fast bowlers is likely to haunt them once again on a batting paradise in Wankhede. It was a below-par bowling performance from CSK in the last game. It remains to be seen what changes Dhoni would make to counter a good looking Punjab’s batting outfit.
Punjab Kings vs Chennai Super Kings: PBKS form
PBKS scored as many as 221 runs in the last game against Rajasthan. With KL Rahul, Chris Gayle and Deepak Hooda in supreme touch, one could expect the franchise to once again come out all guns blazing.
Also, not to forget that KL Rahul and Co. have a solid fast-bowling unit which will be mighty effective on a flat surface in Wankhede. Both Shami and Arshdeep performance well in the last game. Richardson went for plenty but still is a very good customer to have in your side.
