Rajasthan Royals (RR) will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 18th match of IPL 2021 on Saturday. Winning the RR vs KKR game is imperative for both teams at this stage. Both sides haven’t had the greatest of starts to their IPL 2021 campaigns. Both KKR and RR have so far managed to win only one game each in the tournament. Rajasthan is languishing at the bottom of the table, while Kolkata Knight Riders are resting at the sixth position on the points table.
RR vs KKR Match Preview
Rajasthan has showcased a disappointing performance so far in the tournament. The big guns haven’t really come to the party. In the last game, all the big players such as Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, and David Miller among others, failed to make any vital contributions for the side.
Rajasthan would expect more action from their most expensive buy, Chris Morris. Morris, who shined in the match against Delhi Capitals, has not delivered any noteworthy performances in this season so far except the DC match. So, he would look to grab this opportunity to prove his worth.
Indian players of RR such as Riyan Parag, Rahul Tewatia, and Shivam Dube stood out in the last game and took the team to a respectable total against RCB. However, the bowling department looked clueless in front of the carnage produced by the RCB openers. Against a star-studded KKR lineup, Rajasthan ought to come up with better performances or they are likely to suffer another defeat on Saturday.
Kolkata Knight Riders might have lost their last game at the hands of CSK at Wankhede, but the likes of Andre Russell, Dinesh Karthik returned to form with the bat. These are ominous signs for KKR who’s middle order hasn’t really fired in the tournament so far.
Eoin Morgan’s poor run though is a cause of concern for the team. It remains to be seen how KKR fares up in the next game against Rajasthan on Saturday. Fortunately for them, Pat Cummins is in a phenomenal form and if he continues in the same form, KKR may find it easy to gain the upper hand.
Regardless of their current position, it is safe to assume that both sides would choose to stick with the playing XI of their previous matches.
