Chennai Super Kings star player Suresh Raina on Saturday pulled out of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League in UAE. The franchise informed the fans about Raina’s exit after he decided to return home citing personal reasons.
CSK posted about the star batsman’s departure on Twitter as the team’s CEO KS Viswanathan said: “Suresh Raina has returned to India for personal reasons and will be unavailable for the remainder of the IPL season. Chennai Super Kings offers complete support to Suresh and his family during this time,”
It is not confirmed but Raina needs to be there with his family which is why he has decided to fly back to India. This comes the day after a few Indian players along with one senior ranking official tested positive for the virus. It includes the bowler Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaekwad. The franchise decided to extend its quarantine period until September 1 i.e., next Tuesday.
The players were set to start their training at the ICC Academy from Thursday after undergoing six days of quarantine.
With over 12 members testing positive, the BCCI has also postponed releasing the IPL schedule set to begin from September 19.
