IPL 2023 Auction: The Board of Cricket Control for India (BCCI) has frayed out the contenders of the upcoming auctions for the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 2023. A total of 991 cricketers had lodged their requisition to earn a name at the auctions. However, BCCI has finalized 405 players who will go under the hammer.
As per the standard operating norms of the auctions, BCCI has announced that only the first 86 players will go through the cliche auction process whereas the cricketers in the list from No. 87 will be put through the accelerated auctions process. BCCI has also informed all the franchises to schedule their preparations according to the above-mentioned guideline.
The IPL 2023 Auctions will take place at Kochi in Kerala on December 23.
The franchises will have to nominate and select the players they want to be announced. Once the names of all players from No. 87 to 405 are announced, franchises will submit their names after which they will be called out. The complete details will be announced with precision on auction day.
BCCI further added the auctions will commence with all the capped players in the fray. Batsmen will be announced first followed by All-Rounders, Wicket-Keepers, Fast Bowlers and Spinners. The auctions will then move on to uncapped specialist players.
A total of 273 players from the 405 are Indians whereas 132 of them are overseas athletes. 119 cricketers have represented their national team whereas 282 players are uncapped and 4 uncapped players are from associate nations.
In view of the hectic international schedule, BCCI is yet to announce the availability of overseas players. A total of 87 slots are vacant and Sunrisers Hyderabad (13) followed by Kolkata Knight Riders (11) and Lucknow Super Giants (10) have the maximum slots available.
