The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 mini-auction took place on Friday in Kochi. Numerous records were shattered on the much-anticipated day as the fans got to see some breathtaking bids for the international cricketers.

England all-rounder, Sam Curran proved to be the costliest buy at the auction. From Chennai Super Kings to Mumbai Indians, from Punjab Kings to Sunrisers Hyderabad, all the franchises expressed interest in the English all-rounder.

Punjab Kings, eventually, bought his services for a whopping amount of INR 18.25 crore. With that, he also became the costliest buy in the history of the Indian Premier League.

The second-most-expensive buy at the Indian Premier League 2023 mini-auction was Australian all-rounder, Cameron Green. Mumbai Indians were in no mood to hand over the all-rounder to some other franchise. They outbid everyone else to buy his services for a whopping amount of INR 17.25 crores.

Ben Stokes was the third most expensive player at the auction. MS Dhoni and Ben Stokes have played together for Rising Pune Super Giants in IPL. The duo will now be seen playing together for Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming edition of the Indian T20 league.

Despite not being in the best of forms, Nicholas Pooran was highly in demand at the auction. It was Lucknow Super Giants, who eventually, bought his services for a whopping amount of INR 16 crores and, with that, he also became the fourth most expensive player at the auction.

Mayank Agarwal was released by Punjab Kings ahead of the mini-auction. A few franchises expressed their interest in acquiring his services. He will be playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad for the upcoming edition. The franchise bought him for a whopping 8.25 crores. Besides, they also bid heavily for England swashbuckling batter Harry Brook, who earned 13.24 crore at the mini-auction.

As for the out-of-reckoning Indian cricketers, Delhi Capitals got hold of Manish Pandey and Ishant Sharma, while Chennai Super Kings bought Ajinkya Rahane.

Ahead of the auction, there were speculations over Kane Williamson’s future in the Indian Premier League. Given the kind of form he was in, not a of franchises expressed interest in buying his services. Gujarat Titans, however, wanted him and bought him at just 2 crores.

Joe Root also registered his name at the auction. He went unsold in the early bid session. But, Rajasthan Royals, eventually, bought him for 1 crore in the acceleration process.
