Irani Cup 2022: Delhi’s star batter Yash Dhull has been selected in the 15-man squad for the Rest of the India team for the one-off Test against Saurashtra, scheduled to be played from 1st to 5th October 2022.
In nine first-class innings, Dhull has smashed 770 runs, including four centuries. He will make his claim in the middle order, which has the likes of skipper Hanuma Vihari, Sarfaraz Khan and KS Bharat.
The Rest of the India squad has plenty of openers in the squad such as Mayank Agarwal, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, and Priyank Panchal. Three batters, namely Jaiswal, Easwaran and Priyank Panchal have been in top form, of late.
Moreover, Yashasvi Jaiswal has, recently, struck a career-best 265 for West Indies in the Duleep Trophy final match against South Zone. With that, he also became the joint-fastest Indian to 1000 runs in the format, getting there in only 13 innings at an average of 84.58, with five centuries and a half-century.
As far as the pace department is concerned, it doesn’t have a lot of big names. Umran Malik, the young fast bowling sensation, will make his presence felt. He hasn’t picked a lot of wickets in his red-ball career so far, having managed only 8 wickets so far. But, despite that, selectors continue to show faith in his abilities.
He will form the pace attack alongside the likes of Mukesh Kumar, Kuldeep Sen and Arzan Nagwaswalla. Jayant Yadav and Saurabh Kumar are the two frontline spinners.
