England batsman James Vince on Monday tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the semi-finals of Pakistan Super League. Him testing positive for the virus means he will not play for Multan Sultans in the remaining matches of the tournament.

Yesterday, Bangladesh’s all rounder Mahmudullah had tested positive for COVID-19, forcing him to withdraw himself from Multan Sultans for the remaining season.

Now the franchise has named Joe Denly as the latest replacement of Vince ahead of the season resumption. However, the results of his tests are yet to arrive before he joins Multan Sultans for the training session.

Multan Sultans are slated to face Karachi Kings in the qualifiers match on November 14 (Saturday). Denly will have to undergo two more round of tests in the next 48 hours after his arrival in Pakistan.

Denly has not been included in the limited-overs squad of England for the upcoming series against South Africa this month.

Hence, he has been picked for the Multan Sultans, opening a door of opportunity in a professional T20 league. He also has a prior experience of playing in the PSL for the Karachi Kings back in 2008.

The final stages of the 4th edition of PSL was postponed in March due to COVID-19 pandemic. Later, the PCB had announced the remaining games would take place in November.
