Pace bowling is haunting India’s success in the T20I format, especially after their early exit at the DP World Asia Cup 2022. The ICC T20 World Cup 2022 is round the corner and top nations have already announced their squads. The Board of Cricket Control for India (BCCI) will likely announce India’s squad for the T20 World Cup on September 15 or 16.

In a major breakthrough for the Indian contingent, frontline paceman Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel have cleared their respective fitness tests and are available for selection for the approaching mega international event.

Bumrah and Patel visited the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore and passed the mandatory fitness requirements. According to the reports, the physio staff was satisfied with their progress and reported the same to the BCCI.

The BCCI will likely play Bumrah and Patel in the upcoming T20I series against Australia and South Africa to monitor their performance. Another news coming across is that the BCCI is likely to play Mohammed Shami in the same series to ascertain the squad for the T20 World Cup.

The comeback of Bumrah, Patel and most likely Shami will mean that a couple of pacers at the Asia Cup including Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh will lose their spot. The blizzard performance of Avesh will likely keep him out of the squad.

Arshdeep Singh to likely play as reserve in T20 World Cup

According to insider reports, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Harshal Patel and Mohammed Shami will likely lead India’s pace attack at the T20 World Cup. Arshdeep Singh will likely be with the team as a reserve pacer.

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup after sustaining an injury at the Asia Cup. His spot will likely be filled by Ravi Ashwin or Axar Patel. Hardik Pandya will also feature after his blissful performance at the Asi Cup.

Coming to India’s batting attack, not many changes are expected to take place as everyone seems to be fit and in sizzling touch. Virat Kohli smashed a marvellous century in the last match against Afghanistan whereas skipper Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav made satisfactory performances.
