Brisbane Heat on Tuesday re-signed the wicket-keeper batsman Jimmy Peirson for the 10th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL 10). The franchise also penned a deal with batsman Sam Heazlett and bowler Mark Steketee for the fresh season.

This comes after Peirson notched up his maiden first-class century for Queensland Bulls in the ongoing Sheffield Shield tournament.

Peirson has been in form ever since cricket resumed in Australia as can be seen from his stats this season. The wicket-keeper batsman has so far scored three centuries in the domestic competition. He even scored two half centuries for Queensland in Sheffield Shied this season.

Steketee, one of the threes signings of the club has played for Australia A, will be with the club for the next two years.

While Heazlett has previously played for Australia and also known for his fearsome batting in professional cricket. In fact, he even became the leading scorer in Premier Cricket with 610 runs at an impressive average of 76.25.

Heat coach Darren Lehmann welcomed Jimmy on the side, saying he is delighted on having Queensland Bulls’ star batsman.

“Everyone was so pleased for Jimmy and that innings is a great reward for the hard work he has put in with Wade Seccombe and the Bulls coaching staff,” he said.

“He’s a great team man and during his time with the Heat, he has cheerfully accepted whatever role has been asked of him and got it done with the minimum of fuss. He’s a great keeper and has developed an effective partnership keeping to the spinners like Mitch Swepson and Mujeeb Ur Rahman,” he added. (ANI)
