Before joining the England training camp, Jofra Archer will be undergoing a second Covid-19 test for the second time and will then join the bio-secure training camp on Thursday, if he tests negative.

Jofra Archer was called later in the training camp as he was asked to undergo the Covid-19 test for the first time after one of his members of the house felt unwell over the weekend.

“Jofra Archer will join England’s behind-closed-doors training camp on Thursday after a member of his household felt unwell over the weekend,” an ECB statement read. “Archer, and members of his household, have tested negative for COVID-19. He will have a second test tomorrow (Wednesday 23 June), and if he tests negative, he will join up with the training group on Thursday.”

After injuring his elbow in on the tour of South Africa, Archer is all set to make a comeback. Due to the injury, he was ruled out of the Sri Lanka series and the Indian Premier League (IPL), which were eventually postponed due to the pandemic outburst.

“I was sent for a scan to check if the stress fracture had healed,” Archer wrote in column for the Daily Mail. “It was pretty much a box-ticking exercise as I have not experienced any pain and the pictures confirmed all is good.

“Despite the fact that the three matches of this series are played in such a short space of time, I actually think I could play all three – but obviously everyone will be a bit cautious in terms of workload, thinking about the body and what lies ahead.”

The rest of the England squad gathered at Southampton’s Ageas Bowl on Tuesday for their within the bio-bubble training camp for a Test series against West Indies which is scheduled on July 8.
