Former England opener Jonathan Trott has been roped in as England’s batting coach for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan starting from August 5.

Trott had last played for England in the Test series against West Indies in 2015. Three years later, he announced retirement from all forms of cricket in 2018.

“Jonathan Trott, who represented England in 127 international matches and scored 6792 runs, has been appointed the team’s batting coach for the three-Test series against Pakistan,” International Cricket Council (ICC) tweeted.

England defeated West Indies in the Wisden Trophy series by 2-1 and also in a blazing form ahead of the Test series against Pakistan.

The first test is scheduled to start from August 5 at the Old Trafford in Manchester under the bio-secure bubble. While England’s ODI team will play the final ODI against Ireland on 4th August in Southampton.

The upcoming series against Pakistan will also be a part of the World Test Championship and both England and Pakistan will have the opportunity to gain points and climb the points table.
