KAF vs GG: The fourth match of the Sri Lanka Premier League 2022 will have Galle Gladiators take on Kandy Falcons at Mahindra Rajapaksa International Stadium.
The Kandy Falcons are coming off a massive 109-run win over Colombo Stars and they would be riding high on confidence. The Falcons registered a daunting 199-run total in their first match on Tuesday. Pathum Nissanka played a brutal knock of 71 runs in just 41 balls at a strike rate of 173.17.
His partner, Andre Fletcher went on to smash a century in just the first game of the season. He also became the first player to notch a ton this season. Fletcher scored 102 runs in just 67 balls, including 11 fours and 3 sixes.
Brathwaite amassed 20 runs in just 13 deliveries, including 2 fours. In reply, the Falcons bundled out their opposition for just 90 runs on the board. Wanindu Hasaranga ran through the opposition’s bowling unit as he claimed 4 for just 14 runs in 18 deliveries.
Given how they performed in the last match, you expect the Falcons to win on Wednesday as well. Facing them are Galle Gladiators, who suffered a 24-run win in their first match against Jaffna Kings.
Gladiators bowled pretty well as they had restricted the Kings to just 137 on the board. As many as five bowlers, namely Wahab Riaz, Imad Wasim, N Thushara, N Pradeep, and Iftikhar Ahmed picked 2 wickets each.
However, they couldn’t step up with the bat. The Gladiators were bundled out for just 113 runs on the board in the second innings. Kusal Mendis played a fine knock of 51 runs in 43 balls, including 5 fours. However, none of the other batters stepped up to the occasion.
Seven batters got out in single-digit scores and it was pretty bad to witness as a Gladiator fan. The likes of Azam Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Nuwanidu Fernando ought to come up with substantial contributions if they are to register their first win, today.
