South African pacer Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of the upcoming One Day International series against England on Tuesday. The pacer sustained a muscle adductor strain ruling him out from the third T20I game in Cape Town.
He is now expected to be out of the side for the ODI series and return in approximately three weeks after recovery. Rabada has been one of the pace spearheads of South Africa, but didn’t look effective in the first tow T20Is.
South Africa lost the T20I series with the hope of saving dignity by winning the third and the final T20I game today.
“The player will be released from the squad and Bio-Secure Environment tomorrow to begin recovery, rehabilitation and preparation for the Betway Test series against Sri Lanka beginning on 26 December,” the release stated.
The 25-year-old had a successful stint with the Delhi Capitals in the recently concluded Indian Premier League in the UAE. He finished the tournament as the leading wicket-taker by taking 17 wickets and also won the purple cap after claiming 30 wickets.
The speedster has been plagued by the injury in the past and even pulled out of the final stages of IPL 2019 due to back injury.
After the T20I series, both England and South Africa will begin their ODI campaign with the first ODI starting December 4 at Cape Town.
