West Indies pacer Kemar Roach is to make a comeback to English Club Surrey before the County Championship season of 2023. The 34-year-old first joined the English club in 2021 and showcased spectacular performance. Last season, Roach took 25 wickets under his name with an average of 26.34 from just seven matches contributing to their champion title.

The right-arm pacer couldn’t give his best in the West Indies Test series against Australia in November-December of 2022. He only managed to take one wicket in two innings for which he got benched for the second Test. He, however, had a splendid season for the County Championship season. Gareth Batty, Surrey’s new head coach, was more than pleased to welcome back the speedster saying that the experience that Roach brings is important.

Batty stated, “We’re looking forward to welcoming Kemar back to Surrey. He brings great ability and work ethic, and his experience plays an important role in the dressing room. Kemar has already shown what he can do in his time at the club so far and we’re excited to have him joining us again this year,”

Roach will be playing Surrey’s first match against Lancashire at Old Trafford from April 6th, following which he will play his first home game at The Oval against Hampshire from April 13th. It is also expected that he will be playing two home derby matches against Middlesex from May 11th and for Kent from May 18th.

Roach took 25 wickets from seven County Championship matches for Surrey last season

With outstanding performance in Test cricket with around 250 wickets, Roach is more than excited to get back on the field as a part of English Club Surrey. He said, “I really enjoy playing for Surrey and winning the title last year was incredible to be a part of. It’s such a talented and exciting group of players and I can’t wait to get back out on the pitch representing the club.”
