Kings XI Punjab head coach Anil Kumble on Wednesday said that he is expecting CSK skipper MS Dhoni to give 100 per cent in IPL 2020. Dhoni hasn’t played any competitive game since India’s semi-finals ouster during the 2019 World Cup.
Captain cool announced retirement from the international cricket on August 15 when he was attending the pre-season camp of the CSK team.
Many believe that Dhoni might lack inspiration to perform well in the upcoming edition of the IPL in the UAE. But Kumble said that the 39-year-old Dhoni will surely put in his best performance for his side.
“Knowing MS, he will give his 100 percent. Even when I played the IPL, the second season, I had retired from international cricket,” Anil Kumble told PTI.
This year, Kumble will be making his IPL return as the coach of Kings XI Punjab and he will guide the likes of KL Rahul and Chris Gayle.
Kumble said that this year’s squad of the Kings XI Punjab looks balanced and it can also win the trophy in the UAE. Punjab last qualified for the playoffs back in 2014 and since then their performance have lacklustered.
Kings XI Punjab will take on Delhi Capitals in their first match of the season on September 20 in Dubai.
