Sri Lanka wicket-keeper, Kusal Mendis, has been arrested for brutally running over a 64-year-old man on his bicycle and killing him, in Horethudwa, Panadura, early on Sunday (July 5) morning.

As per the reports, the right-handed batsman has been produced before a doctor for a test and will be presented before the court later in the day. Police spokesperson, SSP Jaliya Senaratne, confirmed the news of the accident.
Kusal Mendis has represented Sri Lanka 44 Tests, 76 ODIs and 26 T20Is, and was a part of the Sri Lankan squad that had resumed training after the Covid-19 pandemic outburst.
The decision is yet to be taken by the court.
