The awaited Lanka Premier League is finally set to begin in November after ruckus surrounding the league. Sri Lanka Cricket finally announced the league will take place between November 21 to December 13.

The league will also bring back cricket in the country starting with the domestic T20 tournament before the international fixture.

Sri Lanka Cricket has given the rights to the Dubai based company Innovative Production Group (IPG) which will handle everything in the league. The company will handle ownership rights, media and broadcasting rights and also the sponsorship and production rights.

IPG CEO Anil Mohan is looking to host the league in a world class manner and also expecting the BCCI to allow the participation of the Indian players.

“I can’t divulge details but, yes there are a few recently retired Indian players we are expecting to see in action subject to BCCI clearance. The excitement for LPL, both among fans and also the media is quite palpable. Not only Sri Lanka, the entire sub-continent and its neighbouring countries, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan and the UAE, are looking forward to the LPL with a lot of expectations” Mohan said.

Some retired Indian players including Irrfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Munaf Patel are already expected to play in the LPL.
