Jaffna Stallions on Friday confirmed that England all rounder Ravi Bopara won’t be a part of the Lanka Premier League. Bopara becomes the latest inclusion in the list of players pulling out of the inaugural edition of the tournament.
Yesterday, Universe boss Chris Gayle and England all rounder Liam Plunkett had withdrawn from the T20 tournament.
Jaffna Stallions took to its official Twitter handle to confirm the news posting: “Official announcement English Cricketer @ravibopara (Jaffna Stallions) has pulled out from Lanka Premier League 2020,”
Two days ago, veteran bowler Lasith Malinga had also pulled out of the Lanka Premier League just a week before its start.
The 35-year-old has played 370 T20 matches in his career and scored 7276 runs with an average of 27.56. He has also played 38 T20Is for England and accumulated 711 runs at a strike rate of 118.69.
|A total of five teams will lock horns in the tournament from November 26-December 16. The matches will take place at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota including the knockout and finals.|
