England’s white-ball captain, Eoin Morgan has been enduring a lean patch in white-ball cricket. He scored his last century a year back against Sri Lanka. In the ongoing series against Netherland, Morgan is yet to open his account. He has gotten out on ducks on both the matches he batted thus far. However, England hard-hitter, Liam Livingstone believes that the English captain is just one good inning away to come back into form.

“I think the thing that has been forgotten is Morgs (Morgan) is an unbelievable leader. He is the leader of our team and everybody knows he is only one score away. I am sure that score will come very soon and he will be off and running again,” Morgan was quoted as saying to Sky Sports.

For the unversed, England has already won two out of the three matches in the series and would look to register a series whitewash ahead of the third game. England created history in the first ODI by notching the highest ever score in the history of the white-ball format.

Jos Buttler played an unbeaten knock of 162 runs in just 70 balls in that game, while Liam Livingstone smashed 66 off 22 deliveries. Jos Buttler came into the series on the back of a remarkable run in the Indian Premier League 2022. He finished the tournament as the highest run-scorer in the tournament. Liam Livingstone also heaped praise on Jos Buttler.

“To watch Jos go about his business, it was nice to have him on my side this time around,” Livingstone said. “It was pretty special to watch, especially from the other end.

Meanwhile, Jason Roy has also put his weight behind Morgan to get back in the form very soon.

“That’s just the fickle nature of the sport,” said Roy. “If you’re behind the eight ball it’s quite tough but he’s an incredible worker, an incredible guy so I’m backing him for sure.”
