KF vs JK LPL 2022: Kandy Falcons continued their dominant run in the Lanka Premier League 2022 as they registered their fifth win in 6 matches on Wednesday. Hasaranga and Co. beat Jaffna Kings by 10 runs to secure their position at the top of the ladder.

Andre Fletcher, once again, gave the team a stellar start. He produced a brilliant knock of 35 runs in 22 balls and could have gone on to score a big knock had Gurbaz not taken a blinder at long off.

Unfortunately, for the Falcons, Fletcher didn’t receive a lot of support, in the end other. Pathum Nissanka (15 off 20) never looked comfortable in the middle, while Mendis (11) and Bandara (24) couldn’t make substantial contributions either.

The spinners spun a web around the middle overs in the middle overs as the likes of Brathwaite (0), Najibullah (0) and Hasaranga (7) departed cheaply as well.

At the end of the 14th over, the Kandy Falcons had only managed to score 79 runs on the board. Fabien Allen then took matters into his own hands and played an unbelievable knock of 47 runs in just 23 balls at a strike rate of 204.

He was brutal against spin, notching 4 sixes and 3 fours during his innings. Thanks to that knock, the Falcons scored 160 in 20 overs.

In pursuit, the defending champions had lost Gurbaz (4) and Dhananjaya de Silva (0) inside the first two overs for just 5 runs on the board.

Avishka Fernando (33) then joined hands with Sadeera Samarawickrama (48) and added 58 runs for the third wicket to lead the team’s fightback but neither of them could go on to play big knocks.

Jaffna Kings succumb following lack of partnership

It was Fabien Allen, who broke the partnership as he clean-bowled Fernando in the 8th over. Hasaranga then had Shoaib Malik (8) leg before.

Carlos Brathwaite came back into the attack and picked three crucial wickets in a short span to completely take the game under his team’s control. Jaffna Kings, in the end, could manage to score 150, thereby falling 10 runs short of the target.
