Last season’s champion Perth Scorcher is in hot waters as they’re two of the key players who are ruled out of the Big Bash League 12. Their skipper Mitch Marsh who was in great form last year and their new addition Philip salt will not participate in the tournament.

Scorcher will start their tournament on  17th December and the management would definitely look to replace those players to kick start their campaign, although this year they have signed Faf du Plessis the south African veteran.

But the protea batters would only be available for the first half of the tournament which can make things tough for Perth Scorcher at the business end of the tournament

In the most recent ODI against Australia, Salt received a grade two ligament injury and is no longer considered for the team after receiving a rest recommendation from a doctor. Marsh, on the other hand, recently had surgery to address a chronic ankle issue. The 31-year-old all-around player will miss three months of action due to surgery.

Perth Scorchers suffer a setback

“Losing Mitch and Phil so close to the start of the season is very disappointing,” Perth Scorchers General Manager – High Performance, Kade Harvey, said. “Mitch is one of the best ball-strikers in global cricket with an incredible MBBL record, and his leadership and presence around the group are enormous.

“Phil has proven his class for England and in T20 tournaments around the world, so it’s unfortunate he won’t pull on the orange this summer. We’re under no illusions about how difficult it will be to cover the absence of Mitch and Phil, but we take pride in the depth of our squad and have a lot of players capable of stepping up.”
