Indian women’s team captain Mithali Raj is quite hyped up about playing in the upcoming Test matches against England after seven long years.
The Indian team played their last Test match against England in August 2014, in which the team achieved a thumping victory. Mithali Raj-led team defeated the England team by 6 wickets.
BCCI recently posted a video of the Indian team preparing for their much-awaited Test clash against the England team.
Expressing her excitement about playing Test cricket again, Mithali Raj said, “I was a part of the 2014 Test match in England, it has been some time for the players who were a part of that particular match. We have some new players in the squad and I am quite excited about playing a Test match. Leading the side which has some players who will play the Test match for the first time, is a different experience. It is one of the oldest formats of the sport, all of us excited to play against a strong England side.”
Senior team player and former captain Jhulan Goswami, when asked about playing Test cricket, sharing her views on being a bowler said, “When you are representing your country, you want to do extra and you want to contribute to your team. After seven years we are going to play Test cricket. As a bowler, you have to bowl long spells.”
The team will also lock horns with Australia in a day-night Test match in Perth later this year.
The India women team will fly to the United Kingdom on June 3. After arriving in London, they will then move to Bristol. The team is set to play an all-format series against England, comprising of 1 Test match, three ODIs, and as many T20Is starting June 16.
