STA vs HUR: The fourth match of the Big Bash League 2022 sees Melbourne Stars take on Hobart Hurricanes on Friday at Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Stars haven’t made a great start. They suffered a 1-wicket defeat at the hands of Sydney Thunders in their first match.

Joe Clarke’s team managed only 122 runs in the first innings. All the batters in the team in the top four were guilty of not converting the starts into big scores. Big names such as Clarke (11), Burns (18), Stoinis (0) failed to make an impression.

Heading into the next match, the fans would expect them to produce a better showing with the bat. The bowlers, however, still managed to produce a game out of it and, in fact, took the game to the very last ball.

They picked nine wickets in the second innings, with Nathan Coulter-Nile picking 3 out of them. Besides, the likes of Trent Boult, Beau Webster and Adam Zampa picked two wickets each.

There is no denying that bowling is Melbourne Stars’ strength. They could win the game easily if they manage to put in a good total on the scoreboard.

Facing them are Hobart Hurricanes, who will be playing their first match this season. Skipper Mathew Wade would be looking to make a strong start this time around. He should take the responsibility of scoring the bulk of the runs for the team.

Hurricanes have some powerful hitters such as D’Arcy Short, Tim David and James Neesham to name a few. How well they play on a big surface in Melbourne remains to be seen.

With the ball, Riley Meredith, and Nathan Ellis are likely to share the fast-bowling responsibility.
