Mumbai Indians continue their winning streak, defeat SRH by 34 runs

Mumbai Indians won their second consecutive match of the season on Sunday after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 34 runs.

After winning the toss, MI skipper Rohit Sharma decided to bat first. Unfortunately, Sandeep Sharma who was playing his first game trapped him for just 6 runs. But, Quinton de Kock stayed on the crease and went on to score his first half-century of by blasting 67 runs off 39 balls.

With the help of a plentiful contribution from the middle order, Mumbai Indians managed to put up 208/5 in 20 overs. Krunal Pandya showed his might with the bat by skewing the SRH bowlers for 20 runs off 4 balls in the final over.

Sharjah has been batsmen’s turf so far and after putting up 200+ score, MI bowlers had to defend down the target and register 2 points in the match.

Sunrisers had a good start before they lost Jonny Bairstow in 4.1 overs within the batting powerplay. Skipper David Warner went on to score 60 runs off 44 balls, hammering five boundaries and two sixes in his inning.

Kane Williamson and Priyam Garg who looked in a great touch till the last, became the target of Trent Boult and Krunal Pandya respectively.

Subsequently, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batsmen fell short of the target and lost the match by 34 runs. Trent Boult became the player of the match for his superb spell of 2/28 runs as he removed in form Jonny Bairstow and Kane Williamson.

Mumbai Indians will now face Rajasthan Royals in their upcoming game in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday while SRH will face KXIP on Thursday.
