Kings XI Punjab all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been in news this season but for not the good reasons. The explosive batsman and also a resourceful bowler has so far failed to impress his franchise this season.
Maxwell had taken a break from the international cricket last year and finally returned to the limited-overs team against England last month.
The 31-year-old played really well and finished as one of the highest scorers in the series. He smashed 108 runs off 90 balls and scripted a record victory against England in the final ODI.
While speaking to the PTI, the all rounder explained why he has failed to perform in the UAE this season.
“I probably would not (compare IPL and Australia career). The way I have played international cricket, it has been more of a clearer role. I know exactly how the guys will bat around me,” Maxwell said.
Maxwell further stated he has clearer roles when playing for Australia than playing in the IPL. He has so far managed to put up 58 runs at an average of 14.50 in seven matches.
“My role in IPL changes probably for most games. In IPL, a lot of teams change their sides a lot. In the Australian set-up we have the same eleven for most of the games, we all know our roles really well,” he added.
KXIP had bought Maxwell for a whopping Rs. 10.75 crore during the auction of IPL 2020 in December. He is yet to unleash his capability this season.
