Pubudu Dashanayake, the former coach of the Nepal National Cricket team, left his position on Wednesday. As a matter of fact, he took on the same position with the Canadian squad.

Pubudu revealed personal reasons for his most recent decision to resign from the position during a press conference. The conference was conducted in Kathmandu on Wednesday afternoon.

“This is one of the toughest decisions I have had to make. Am resigning because of personal reasons. I would regret it in future if I don’t take this step now,” Pubudu said in the press conference.

Pubudu Dassanayake was chosen to lead the Canada Cricket team less than two hours after he announced his departure.

Cricket Canada announced the appointment of Dassanayake as the head coach of the national team via social media. He has been named the coach of Canada for the second time.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) appointed him for a second two-year term in November and December of last year. He was chosen after an open process.

Less than a year after being appointed, he stated that he could not continue in the position. Dassanayake formerly led Nepal as its head coach from 2011 to 2015.

Nepal qualified for the 2014 ICC T20 World Cup under Pubudu Dashanayake

Nepal experienced significant and historic cricket success during his first term. For the first time, the team was qualified to compete in Bangladesh’s 2014 ICC T20 World Cup.

Under his direction, Nepal participated in one-day internationals in the ICC World Cricket Division Four. Although his first term continued to be fruitful and noteworthy, his second term was average.

His leadership was criticised following Nepal’s disappointing performance in a triangular one-day series. The series was played this week in Scotland as part of the ICC Cricket League Two. He was under pressure because the team had just performed poorly.
