Yuzvendra Chahal wasn’t retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions. For those of you who don’t know, Yuzvendra Chahal has picked the most wickets for RCB in the history of IPL. He has 139 wickets to his name while playing for RCB in the cash-rich tournament. However, despite that, the franchise decided to let go of their primary spinner for the next season.
Former Indian cricketer, Aakash Chopra expressed his surprise over India selectors’ mishandling of the Indian spinner. Yuzvendra Chahal wasn’t in India’s squad for the ICC T20 World Cup. He was then selected for the T20 series against New Zealand but got the opportunity to bowl only in the final game.
“Yuzi Chahal – I didn’t understand what has been done so far. He was not in the World Cup squad and was there in the squad of the team that played after that. He doesn’t get a chance to play, gets one chance in the end.”
Aakash Chopra also believes that Yuvzendra Chahal will draw huge bucks from either one of the two new franchises.
“He is not getting his due, let’s be very very honest. The standard of which he is a bowler, I feel he should be treated better. RCB has not retained him in the IPL. In my opinion, either he will go already in the draft, probably towards Team Ahmedabad. If he doesn’t go, he will be sold very expensive.”
If reports are to be believed, the Royal Challengers Bangalore didn’t retain the leg-spinner as the franchise wasn’t able to reach a financial agreement with him. Chahal is likely to cause a bidding war if he finds himself back at the auction pool.
