The Qalanders cleaned the clock of Pune Devils in the fourth match of the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2021 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Successfully chasing the target set up by the Pune Devils, the Qalanders clinched victory by 9 wickets. They required only 7.1 overs to complete the target.
Fielding first, the Qalanders bowlers did a fine job in restricting the Devils at a total of 107 runs. Tom Kohler-Cadmore smashed a brilliant half-century, scoring 54 off 28 balls, but even that couldn’t keep his side from throwing in the towel. The second best runs came from Darwish Rasooli for the Devils. Rasooli played a beautiful knock of 39 runs off 24 balls, although it didn’t help them to win.
From the Qalanders side coming in to bat first, Tom Banton contributed 45 runs in 18 balls to give the team an explosive start. After losing Banton in the fourth over, captain Sohail Akhtar and Sharjeel Khan stitched a partnership of 61 runs. Skipper Akhtar hit back-to-back seven fours while Khan added 28 runs with the help of two sixes and two fours each.
With still 2.9 overs left to go, the team raced towards the target, winning by 9 wickets, with Akhtar ending the match with a spectacular four.
Following the victory over Devils, Qalanders have topped the Group B standings with 2 points.
