The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced on Sunday that they have signed a contract with the Noor Matoon Construction Company for the second phase construction of the Najeeb Tarakai Stadium.
“The official contract for the second phase construction of Najeeb Tarakai Cricket Stadium in Nangarhar was signed between Afghanistan Cricket Board and Noor Matoon Construction Company,” ACB said in their official statement.
In honour of Afghanistan cricketer Najeeb Tarakai, who passed away unexpectedly after meeting with a tragic accident, ACB decided to rename a Behsood Cricket Stadium in Nangarhar in October last year after his name.
The stadium is currently under construction for the second phase of which, ACB signed the contract with Noor Matoon Construction Company.
“The second phase construction activities will consist of surrounding walls, oval ground, borewell, water tanks as well as the levelling of the ground. The construction will start from 13th February and will be completed in a period of seven months.”
“The Engineers from ACB’s Engineering and Infrastructure department will oversee the construction closely and report the progress on time to ACB leadership,” it concluded.
ACB intends to construct a world-class stadium in the country and holds high expectations from it. The stadium has immense potential of giving boost to the game in the country. It would have a capacity of 35,000 spectators.
