England fast bowler Stuart Broad became only the third English cricketer to play 150 Tests for England on Thursday. Broad was named in England’s playing XI for the second Ashes 2021-22 Test against Australia. He reached the milestone after stepping onto the field at Adelaide Cricket Ground.
Overall, Stuart Broad becomes only the 10th cricketer to play 150 Test matches. Broad is amongst the two bowlers to have picked more than 500 wickets in Test Cricket. Currently, he has 525 wickets in 151 Tests at an average of 27.84.
Stuart Broad has bowled quite well in the ongoing second Ashes 2021-22 Test against Australia. In the 8th over of the match, he sent Marcus Harris packing for 3 off 28 balls. However, this was the only wicket he has picked till now. So far, Broad has bowled 12 overs, picking 1 wicket for 28 runs. Australia has batted really well and made a few mistakes in the ongoing first day of the second Test match.
David Warner played another sensational knock of 95 runs off 167 balls. He, once again, missed out on a hundred by 5 runs. At the time of writing, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith are unbeaten on 94 (249) and 10 (43) respectively. Apart from Stuart Broad, Ben Stokes has a wicket to his name.
Australia is currently leading the five-match Test series by a 1-0 margin. The Aussies put in a dominant performance in the first Test of the series. The bowling unit bundled England out for 147 runs before notching a mammoth 425-run total in the second innings.
Joe Root and David Malan showed some resistance with the bat in England’s second innings. However, once the duo got out, wickets fell in a cluster, and England were bowled out for 297 runs. Australia needed only 20 runs in the last innings to win the match and they chased it down with 9 wickets remaining.
