Former Australian spin maestro Shane Warne firmly believes Australia would beat the Indian team in the Boxing Day Test. The hosts won the first match by chasing a low total of 91 runs by 8 wickets in the pink-ball Test at Adelaide.
Regular skipper Virat Kohli will no more be associated with the Indian team for the remaining three tests due to the paternity leave. He returned back to India after the first Test because of the birth of his first child.
Warne believes that the visitors should be well guarded as the Tim Paine and his men will blow them away at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
“I think Australia is probably going to blow them away. Having said that, they have some class players to come in like KL Rahul. Young Gill will come in. Rahane is a class act. We know what Pujara can do,” Warne told Fox Cricket.
With Kohli already out of the remaining matches, vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane will have a lot of onus throughout the Australia series.
The visiting team have been hit by another blow in the first Test with Mohammad Shami sustaining a fracture on his right arm after getting hit by a bouncer.
“Shami is a huge loss as well. He’s such a quality bowler. And if you look at bowlers for the Melbourne conditions — drop-in pitches — Shami hits the seam and stands it up and bowls a good length and straight,” Warne added.
The second Test between India and Australia will begin on the Boxing Day on December 26 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
