AUS vs WI: The Australian Women’s team stormed West Indies out thereby creating a place for itself in the finals of the Women’s World Cup 2022 for the 7th time. The match was held today at the Basin Reserve, Wellington. Australia remains unbeaten in the tournament as expected.
Led by the captain Meg Lanning, the exemplary team created a target of 305 with the fall of just 3 wickets in 45 overs. The highest contribution by the Player of the Match, Alyssa Healy with 129(107) runs and Racheal Haynes with 85(100) runs. Healy hit 17 boundaries and one six in her dominating innings. With a 216-run first-inning stand, Haynes and Healy put the game out of reach, and Lanning and Mooney took it up from there.

The bowlers then worked together to dismiss the West Indies Women for 148 runs. Megan Schutt, Annabel Sutherland, Tahlia McGrath, Alana King, and Ashleigh Gardner each took one wicket.
the team, apart from Dottin’s quick attempt at the start, never appeared to be attempting to track down the target. Williams got them off to a bad start, Matthews tried but never got into a rhythm, and Taylor didn’t even try. Out there with the innings disintegrating around her, it was also her listlessness that made the task become impossible rather than tough. Taylor’s final score was 48 out of 75, an ineffective approach from the captain and most accomplished player. Others scored under 40 and two of them were knocked out at 0.
Overall the match was a stunner opening the doors for finals for the Australian team wherein the West Indies coping up with a nightmare.
