Australia vs Bangladesh: It will be the first time when Bangladesh and Australia will play a bilateral T20 series. They have met each other in four T20 internationals- all played at the T20 World Cup. Both teams will square up for a five-match T20 series, scheduled to be held between 3rd August and 9th August 2021.
Bangladesh Cricket Team is coming off a hard-fought 2-1 series win against Zimbabwe. They would be keen to continue with their winning momentum ahead of the important T20 World Cup. The squad however is a bit weak with the absence of players like Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das for different reasons. In their absence, the onus would be on the likes of Shakib Al-Hasan, Mahmudullah, and Somya Sarkar in the batting department. Bangladesh would also be hoping that Mustafizur Rahim recovers in time from injury.
On the other hand, Australia also isn’t playing with a full squad. Also, they are coming into the series on the back of a disappointing 4-1 series defeat at the hands of West Indies in the T20 series. To make matters worse, Aaron Finch has been ruled out of the series due to injury. Matthew Wade will lead the side in his absence.
Mitchell Marsh was the star performer for Australia in the series. The decision to bat him at three worked wonders for them. And, in the upcoming series, he might open the innings and Wade would bat in the middle order.
Moises Henriques struggled to find his feet in the middle order. It remains to be seen whether he would get the opportunity to once again prove his mettle. Mcdermott might get the opportunity in the middle order to show what he is capable of. The bowling, though, looks sorted with Mitchell Starc and Hazlewood both playing. It will be interesting to see the series fare for both the side. The first of the five-match series will be played on 3rd August, Tuesday.
