Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Monday confirmed that the side’s current batting coach Jon Lewis will continue with his tenure until Sri Lanka’s tour. The board extended his contract considering the schedule of the Bangladesh team’s hectic schedule ahead.
“We have extended his contract till the Sri Lanka tour as we are having back-to-back series. Afterwards, we will decide our next course of action,” BCB Chief Executive Officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury said.
BCB had appointed Jon Lewis as the interim batting consultant in January for the West Indies and New Zealand series. Craig McMillan, the usual batting coach didn’t join the team citing personal reasons that had paved the way for Lewis for that position.
Besides, Lewis also has the experience with the Sri Lanka team in the past and also served as the batting coach of England during their ODI series against Ireland last month.
England beat Ireland 2-1 in the three-match ODI series which was a part of the inaugural 2020–23 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.
Moreover, he also became a contingency backup of Durham by becoming the head coach of the side after Geoff Cook stepped down from the position in 2013. During his stint with Durham, Lewis helped the side win the Championship.
