BAN vs ZIM: Nurul Hasan, Bangladesh’s new T20I captain, was forced to withdraw from the rest of the Zimbabwe tour. This was due to a finger injury sustained during his team’s seven-wicket victory in the second T20I. The match was held in Harare on Sunday. According to team physio Muzadded Alpha Sany, Nurul fractured his left index finger while batting against fast bowler Hasan Mahmud.
The BCB hasn’t named the captain for the third T20I. Although Litton Das, who captained Bangladesh in a single T20I last year, is most likely to serve in that capacity.
According to Muzadded Alpha Sany, Nurul would be sidelined for at least three weeks. “We did an X-ray which revealed a fracture to the index finger. Such injuries take about three weeks to recover from. He is therefore out of Tuesday’s last T20 match and the upcoming ODI series,” Sany said in a video message.
Nurul kept playing wicketkeeper but appeared to be in pain. The event happened at the conclusion of Zimbabwe’s inning.
Mahmudullah was the previous captain. He did not play in the T20I series against Zimbabwe as a result of the change in leadership. And Nurul took over as the captain.
Mosaddek Hossain, Bangladesh was able to hold Zimbabwe to 135/8 with the help of his five-wicket haul. In response, Bangladesh won the second T20I. The credit goes to Litton Das’ half-century and Afif Hossain’s quickfire 30* off 28 balls.
Bangladesh will play the third and final T20I on Tuesday in Harare, Zimbabwe. Three ODIs will follow on August 5, 7 and 10.
