Bangladesh versus Sri Lanka Test series set to get underway from April 21. The Bangladesh team arrive in the country on April 12 and underwent a three-day quarantine period. They have now started practising for the two-match Test series that will be held in Pallekele.
Bangladesh opener Saif Hasan is all pumped up about the series and is eyeing a spot in the playing XI. He is looking to deliver a noteworthy performance in the practice game to get a chance for action in the series.
Hasan had not been able to perform in the home series against West Indies. However, he is now confident in starring in the SL Test. To back his confidence, he highlighted his brilliant performance in the latest Bangladesh A against Ireland Wolves match.
The right-handed batsman struck a century during the game and following his spectacular stint in the five-match one-day series. He also faired excellently in the National Cricket League (NCL). Hasan hit another ton and amassed 235 runs in four innings for Dhaka Division.
”Naturally, when you are scoring runs there is confidence and I think my batting preparation was top notch along with my fitness and though I did not play matches (against West Indies) but had a good practice session in the national nets,” Cricbuzz quoted Saif Hasan as saying.
”Later, I had played a very good series against the Ireland Wolves and before coming here, I had a good preparation in the NCL. So I am carrying the confidence and if I get a chance, I will try to capitalize it,” he said.
Hasan also added that the practice match will play a crucial role in helping them prepare for the series. He feels it is the only time they can get a chance to familiarize themselves with the conditions.
”The practice match ahead of us is very important for us, as it is the sole opportunity for us to get used to the condition.
‘‘We are expected to get a full idea about how the wicket is going to act through playing the practice match and we need to cash in the knowledge that we earned from the practice game regarding the condition and the wicket in the Test matches.”
The first match of the Bangladesh versus Sri Lanka Test series will take place from April 21-25. The second match from April 29-May 3.
