Bangladesh vs Afghanistan: After winning the ODI series, Bangladesh would look to claim the upcoming two-match T20 series against Bangladesh as well. Former skipper, Shakib Al Hasan returns to the T20 side after missing out on the last series due to injury.
Uncapped players such as Munin Shahriar and Yasir Ali have also been included in the squad, following their impressive performances in the Bangladesh Premier League.
Mahmudullah will continue to lead in the side in the shortest format. Other important players in the squad include Liton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim, Afif Hossain, Mahedi Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, etc. It will be interesting to see if Bangladesh could pose a similar threat in the T20 series as well.
Afghanistan, on the other hand, has made five changes to the squad that played in the T20 World Cup 2021. The likes of Darwish Rasooli, Azmarullah Omarzai, Afsar Zazai, Qais Ahmad, and Nijat Masoud have replaced Asghar Afghan (retired), Gulbadin Naib, Mohammad Shahzad, Hashmatullah, Hamid Hassan, and Naveen ul Haq in the 16-member side.
Mohammad Nabi will lead the Afghanistan Cricket Team in T20 internationals. His form, however, is a concern for the team. He had a dismal outing in the PSL 2022 and didn’t take the world by storm with his performances in the ODIs either.
The batting unit has the likes of Hazratullah Zazai, Najibullah Zadran, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz among others. The onus will be on these three to score the bulk of the runs. Qais Ahmad has been included in the squad and it will be interesting to see if he gets a chance to make it into the playing XI. Rashid Khan will continue to be their biggest bet in the bowling department. His four-over spell is going to be crucial to the team’s fortune in the tournament.
