Bangladesh vs Australia: The second and final T20 international between Bangladesh and Afghanistan is scheduled to be played at Shere Bangla National Stadium on Saturday, March 5. Bangladesh has taken a 1-0 lead in the series after having won the first match by a margin of 61 runs.
Riding on an outstanding knock from Liton Das, Bangladesh managed to score 155 runs in the first innings. Das scored 60 runs in 44 deliveries, a knock which was laced with 4 fours and 2 sixes. However, he received little support from the other end.
The likes of Naim (2), Shakib (5), and Mahmudullah (10) got out on single-digit scores. Afif Hussain, on the other hand, managed 25 runs in 24 deliveries. Bangladesh would be hoping to showcase much better performance with the bat.
Once again, Fazalhaq Farooqi was brilliant with the ball for Afghanistan. He returned with bowling figures of 2 for 27 in 4 overs.
In pursuit of that total, Afghanistan was bundled out for just 94 runs. They made the worst possible start, having lost the first three wickets for just 8 runs on the board. In-form batsman, Najibullah Zadran held firm at one end but wickets kept falling at the other end. He too got out on the third 13th over and Afghanistan’s hopes of winning the game came to an end. Heading into the final game of the series, the batting unit needs to step up to the plate and deliver crucial performances.
Nasum Ahmed starred with the ball for Bangladesh as he managed to pick 4 wickets for 10 runs in 4 overs. Besides, Shoriful Islam (3 for 29) and Shakib Al Hasan (2 for 18) also made great returns with the ball.
